Installing insulation into existing homes ("retrofitting") is a speciality of Premier Insulation. We have been doing this work since the late 1990s. Between 2009 and 2013, we were the Premier Bay of Plenty service provider for the government’s EECA subsidised home insulation program "Warm Up, New Zealand" and have provided home insulation Tauranga wide to thousands of clients, always maintaining a very high standard.
We supply and install home insulation in Tauranga into uninsulated ceilings of existing houses and add additional insulation to those that have insufficient coverage. We also install underfloor insulation to Tauranga houses that previously had nil or insufficient underfloor protection. You can also count on us to supply and install vapour barriers under houses built over damp ground to provide a drier living environment.
This house in Mt. Maunganui, like many around the country, had blown insulation installed in the ceiling in the 1990’s. To be effective, the depth of the insulation should be about the same as the truss depth, i.e. at the top of the beams of wood lying across the ceiling. The sides of these beams should not be visible. Pink arrows show that in most places, most of the trusses are in fact visible and the blue arrows show where the top of an interior wall and a ceiling batten can also be seen. This ceiling had large patches with virtually no insulation remaining. Green arrow indicates where some of the lost insulation has been deposited in a deep pile, almost certainly by wind flow through the ceiling-roof cavity. Yellow insulation in some pictures shows where we are laying our glass wool blanket to replace the blown product. This example is quite typical of how many ceilings can look years after the installation of loose fill blown product
